If you run tube amps, did you consider parametric EQ pedals?
- does sound boring doesn't it?
- but amazing what you can do with tube amps and parametric EQ

I got a 10 band EQ, gonna try it and a compressor in the loop and up front when I get round to getting a tube amp out. I use a small solid state amp for practice, size and simplicity. Roland Cube 20XL sounds decent when dirty. No comparison to my valve combos, cleans, anyway.
