More a never ending annoyance.

It all starts here.
I've always wanted to compose film scores. And mostly thought it was something that would be out of reach both technically and intellectually. This video shattered those preconceived notions.

I was unemployed for two months. Very happy at the new job. More per hour less hours. (that's another story) I had some money that should have survived me for that long but then unexpected expenses. Had a 401k but it was near impossible to access my account and my former employers were no help whatsoever. Finally get into my account and clear it out. The company took over one fourth of the money deposited in the account for themselves. Then there are the taxes.

Get back two where I'm two months ahead of all my bills, Have some money leftover. It's time to upgrade my electronic life. New PC, new smart tv, new daw, new orchestral library.

The PC
I bought a Dell refurb on ebay i9, 32G ram 512 SSD 4TB HDD lots of usb ports. Took a week to deliver.
Something happens during the purchase and my bank triple charges me. I take it out on the seller. Wasn't the seller. Apologize wait for delivery. It wasn't till after I gave the seller a glowing deal I bothered to see that they had not included the 4TB HDD. So I had to go to a local store and purchase an 8TB external

The Smart TV
Didn't want to wait for a new smart TV. Samsungs on sale everywhere. Decide on a 50 inch. No 50" at any local store. Frustrated buy a 65". One problem no way to get that damn thing in my sedan. Call my sister, she's got a Jeep Wagoneer. She shows up we load up then. She tells me she has to go. It takes a week before we can agree on a day, time to drop it off. Eight days later.

I know there is no way I can carry that dang thing up a flight and a half in the box. I unbox throw away the box. then tape cardboard around the edges and proceed to get it up the steps. No HDMI cable included. Also need new ethernet cables. Fine go out and buy. Hook everything up and it looks great. For a little bit then the crack appears and gets worse. Apparently I chipped a corner and then it spread.

All sales final on sale item no box the trash man emptied the dumpster before I got the smart tv up the steps. Still works I'm keeping it goddamnit.

The DAW
My main daw for several years now has been Mixcraft. It works, stuff I need is where I can find it. Stuff I don't need to see is hidden away. Bitwig is my second. Fully supports mpe but god I hate the ui. Every time I turn around I'm seeing one of these score composers using Cubase. I haven't used Cubase since Windows 3.1 I'm liking the features. So I buy Cubase Artist 13 but I need an ilok. Never used one before. Never really liked the concept. Buy from sweetwater and...await delivery.
Spent 3 hours last night trying to get the elicenser to work no luck. Time I'll never get back. Should have been concentrating on the orchestral library. Will let you know if/when the Cubase issue is resolved. Bigger fish to fry right now.

The Orchestral Library.
I've got free orchestral vst's like BBC SO and I think it sucks. I've got a smattering of orchestral instruments in Mixcraft and they are fair but you really can't control them via CC. The truth is I find that KLC Triton has the best orchestral sounds in my current vst library. I'm always running for one of my Korg plugins even though they were created using limited sound technologies at the time.

I watched all the orchestral library videos. Only two really wowed me. Swam and East West Opus edition. SWAM was way way too expensive. There is no way I'd go for the subscription model. I don't like cloud computing. I thought about buying the HDD version but I don't like waiting for delivery. Which is why I wanted the HDD on the PC so bad. Well I've got an external HDD so there is no need for me to purchase the HDD version. (dumb) I have never used ilok before. So when I purchased EWHO via sweetwater I also purchased an ilok usb. Wait for delivery before I can go through the registration process. The total size of EWHO Opus edition is 944GB I'm averaging 20 GB a day... That's 47 days till it's complete.
