- i asked them to please make it possible to start playback from the new time-selection-cursor they introduced with 5.2b1. (I wasnt the only one sending in that request, many more did) They listened and implemented a new shortcut for "Play from Time Selection" since Beta 6. Isnt that f*ing awesome?
They did indeed give at least the later half of this to us after feedback, now didn't they? hahaThey came really close with the current precision editing to making Bitwig highly functional regarding audio editing. It's missing two major things in it still, and that is group editing and the ability to insert your playhead position to where your cursor has landed via the new keyboard navigation.
I still need group editing tho. There are shitty drummers out there that need fixing. Ya can't edit and move around the snare of a multi-tracked drum kit nilly willy and expect the other tracks to retain phase coherency with it, they must all move together as a group.
Same thing goes for anchor points.. make an anchor point on the transient of a kick, throw your cursor to the downbeat you want it at, and boom snap the anchor point of the clip to that position with a shortcut command. This kind of tool is handy for music editing, but down right critical and essential for post production work (dialogue/fx/etc.)
I've only been using Bitwig since v5.1, but lemme tell ya the new precision audio editing things that they DID give to us in 5.2 is f'n great. It seems little, but it actually brought so much functionality to the table editing wise. Bitwig is VERY close to being a no compromises DAW for editing. They are on the right track and I have alot of confidence I will see these missing features soon enough.
