Yeah, I get you- I'm a tinkerer too and like the idea of having lots of toys to explore. It's not the most productive thing to do but this is a hobby, being productive isn't the focus. My issue- speaking personally- is that I have wound up with surface level understanding of heaps of stuff. When it comes to things like vintage emulations, we're looking at a subtlty that may get missed when one only skims the surface. I kinda miss the days when I used Reason 5 only and had to intimately know all the available effects and synths. It depends what your goals are. I can't speak for others, but I only make music for my own personal enjoyment and I get as much enjoyment out of tinkering with plugins as I do making the music itself. When I start a new project my first question is, which plugin haven't I explored recently? I doubt serious producers could afford to waste time like that, but what percentage of Arturia's, or any developer's, customers are serious producers working to a deadline? I would think it's pretty low.Motions seems really nice, like a stripped down blend of Shaperbox and Infiltrator. The 2 new bus plugins sound interesting and I can imagine using them. I can also imagine using them 3 times and then never again. It seemed worth it for $69 but I own V Collection/FX 4/Pigments/Coldfire purchased separately and a bloody Microfreak and seeing people here who claim to own nothing getting this for $99, I'm now diving into cognitive-fallacy-land and feeling ripped off.
I do wonder how much use the general KVR person actually uses these plugins. Never really see them mentioned. Of the FX collection, I use the LX24 reverb, Coldfire, the Sitral EQ, sometimes the phaser and have barely looked at the rest. One of the compressors is nice, and Dist Tube is decent but there's like 25 other plugins here that are just gathering dust.
I have everything by Arturia, and got the €49 deal, which was £43 after conversion, so £21.50 each for the two new plugins seems a fair deal, if someone else gets a better deal, good luck to them!
That said, I purchased the entire FX collection for $69 last year and so even if I only use a limited number, it's still value for money.
