Some of you might be faced with different targets than me... but: Is anybody around trying to "build" a production system (PC/laptop/...) and a DAW based on Linux?
For several reasons I moved to Linux completely several years ago and ... while learning to manage this system (what simply is more "intense" ...=challenging) I was faced with a problem I didn't calczlate:
The latest update of Bitwig Studio (5.2 Beta X) crashes my system - no matter whether using the *.deb or a flatpak on a Debian Trixie = 13 (testing). So I have to move to another DAW, because I cannot change my PC only to do Bitwig (and my laziness...) a favor. And if Bitwig decides to make use of something which is known to be accompanied by issues for not few users (Vulkan) it's their decision... and mine has to be : Finding an alternative.
My intention is VCV Rack pro with a DAW, which is capable of running VCV Rack pro "fully supported" (that is correct handling of CV-data, limitless automation of arbitrary parameters (that's why Cardinal is out of discussion). To say it in short: I want to realize as many possibilities as possible Bitwig offered - in conjunction with a full featured DAW...
My problem is, that Ardour (at least according to my information) doesn't support CV signals yet... and on the other hand I'm not really happy building Carla from source...
So: Anyone around with at least significantly more experience than me in Linux and Linux Audio...?
